Have any problem with this interpretation of Sally....?
source: www.archiecomics.com/blog/soni… ...If so, welcome to the Anti-Sally-Sue group!
What we are:Whether you consider yourself a fan of Sally or if you've always disliked Sally, this club is for those who can find common ground in disliking the
notion that she is perfect or that such characters should exist. Most Mary Sue definitions work with the idea perfection is generally a sign of one. Whether you think Sally normally is designed to be that way or not isn't the issue. The issue is that Archie is writing her with the above interpretation of who she is.
This club is also against the notion that plotholes, reboots, or other such things which damage the integrity of a story should used in order to significantly elevate any specific character. Sally just so happens to be at the center of this at the moment. So again, this is NOT saying you have to hate Sally. We are saying we do not like how the character is written at this time. We are not arguing whether or not Sally was always written this way, either. We are simply arguing that she is being written to be a "perfect princess"
now and we are against that. We are also against the systematic derail of her character to facilitate "her" gaining more spotlight as well. We'd rather have Sally in character and with less spotlight than a fake, OOC Mary Sue that has a lot more.
What we are not:*Again to repeat: Disliking Sally in general is NOT a requirement to be in this group, just the idea the idea that her being essentially perfect is a valid interpretation of the character or that the plot should bend to elevate her status.
*We DO NOT define Mary Suedom based on the notion Sally has "changed" certain characters' roles or relationships from how they appear in the games. This group is dedicated to being against
writing that actually destroys what is canon in
Archie's story in order to elevate Sally's prominence. You can dislike her based because she assists in deviations from the games if you wish, but the group does not endorse this position.
*We are not a group to opposed to this sort of writing with the intention of endorsing some alternative pairing. It is fine if you can explain how plotholes in-story affected a love interest's relationship to Sonic in the actual comic but we'd prefer to keep it at around that level, thanks. We don't want unrelated discussions between love interests. This club is not concerned with you thinking Sally is a bad person for Sonic and that Amy/Mina/Fiona/Bunnie/Eggman is a much better choice for him.
*We're also not a kill club. So no images spilling Sally's guts out. We get that the writing bothers people, but how does that show how the plot is bending to elevate Sally?
She a Chi-Chi, ugly inside-out. Merely disposable Satanic spawn, existing to torture our lives.
